And as
he lay and slept under a juniper tree, behold, then an angel touched him, and
said unto him, Arise and eat. 1 Kings 19:5
THOUGHT
FOR THE DAY: When
God touches you, strength is impacted to face the future...
When a
person experiences the touch of God, they connect to the Power of God. The
Bible in our anchor text says that the Lord touched him (Elijah), and you know
of the exploits of Elijah. So, a man or woman touched by God must touch their
world. When God touches you, you must touch or impact your world. The touch of
God is the secret of impact with God. Therefore, the scarcity of people of
impact is because of the shortage of people touched by God. The scarcity of
people of spiritual impact in our world is also due to the shortage of people
that have been touched by God. We have some examples in the Bible of people
touched by God. One of such people was Elijah. In 1 Kings 19:5 when
he fled from Jezebel, he lay under a juniper tree and was touched by God. He
rose, ate and went in the strength of that meat for forty days. Therefore, when
God touches you, strength is impacted to face the future.
Another
example of people touched by God is Isaiah. In the book of Isaiah 6:1-7,
Isaiah was already prophesying (though with unclean lips). Then he saw the
vision of God in the year that Uzziah died, and he sentenced himself when he
said ‘Woe is me for I am an unclean man’ (Isa. 6:5). He received
the touch of God, his tongue was cleansed and he was strengthened. You see, the
touch of God handles the weakness and shortcomings of man. That shall be your
testimony, in Jesus’ Name.
