But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are
lost: In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which
believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image
of God, should shine unto them. 2 Cor. 4:3-5...
THOUGHT
FOR THE DAY: Insight answers to uprightness.
How do we encounter the Spirit of the Word? How do we encounter insight
from the Word of God? One of the ways to encounter insight from the Word is by
maintaining uprightness. Uprightness brings insight. James 1:21 says, ‘Wherefore
lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with
meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls.’ Insight
answers to uprightness.
There can be no insight in iniquity. Filthiness of the spirit prevents
the revelation of the Word of God. Defilement of conscience denies you access
to insight in the Word of God. Anything that holds your conscience in guilt is
preventing you from seeing what God is showing you and from hearing what God is
saying. Iniquity frustrates spiritual sensitivity and arrests receptivity. It
is not possible to be iniquitous and be spiritually receptive. That is why a
sinner can be in a spirit-charged atmosphere where people are jumping, dancing
and worshipping and be wondering what is happening. Until God breaks through to
him, he will feel nothing.
According to our anchor Scripture, every sinner is only reading the Bible
with blind eyes. The Bible remains a closed book to the sinner; whether it is a
sinner lost in sin in the world or a compromising Christian. It is not that God
is trying to deny anyone access to the Word, but such people’s lifestyles have
blinded their eyes from seeing the Word of God. In case you are saying,
‘Pastor, I am not seeing the things that I am meant to see from the Bible; I
read the Bible but it looks like ordinary literature to me,’ check yourself. Is
there any area of compromise in your life? Is there something you are doing
that God does not expect you to do? That is what may be blinding your spiritual
eyes to insights from the Scripture. Spiritual blindness will not be your
portion, in Jesus’ Name.
ASSIGNMENT(S):
1. Ensure that you are not compromising in any way in your walk with God.
2. Immediately ask for mercy whenever you make any mistake.
