Barely 12 hours after two suicide bombers were killed as they were trying to attack the Army Barracks in Gombe on the New Year eve, another suicide bomber died on Thursday morning, while attempting to attack the ECWA Church III, behind the Gombe State University.

According to reports, the suicide bombers, who attempted to attack the Army Barracks, arrived on a motorcycle but could not gain access, as soldiers on guard were searching vehicles and motorcycles going into the barracks. Continue...

An eyewitness said the motorcycle arrived with a passenger carrying a bag in which it was believed explosives were hidden, adding that it was at the entrance of the barracks that the bombers detonated the explosives, which killed them.

According to members of the Boys Brigade, who were on duty to guard the church, the suicide bomber arrived on a motorcycle at about 8am and was asked to alight from his bike to be checked but he refused. The source stated that following his refusal, the suicide bomber tried to go for his target by meandering through the barricade when the explosive went off, killing him in the process and injuring 8 others who were immediately rushed to the hospital for medical attention.

It was reported that one of the Boys Brigade closer to the bomber as of the time the explosive went off nearly had one of his arms cut off as a result of the impact of the explosive.
