Have A Well-Defined Identity

Then answered one of the servants, and said, Behold, I have seen a son of Jesse the Bethlehemite, that is cunning in playing, and a mighty valiant man, and a man of war, and prudent in matters, and a comely person, and the LORD is with him. 1 Sam. 16:18

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: You cannot serve a God of quality and excellence in mediocrity. Continue...

To live a purposeful and meaningful life, you have to be known for doing something particularly well. You should determine to be known for something that you do exceptionally well. You should have a well-defined identity; don’t be a jack-of-all-trade and master of none. In the Scriptures, people were either known by their town or trade because they were either outstanding in the land or excelled in their trade. If someone was looking for a good instrumentalist, they would look for David. You will read things like, Joseph the carpenter, Nathan the prophet, Zadok the priest, Simon the tanner, Joseph of Arimeathea, the great woman of Shunem or the widow of Nain, etc.

Beloved, endeavour to be known for the value that you add in one area of life or the other starting from the spiritual. Ensure that Heaven, your generation, family and Church know and hold you responsible for something.

I want you to remember that God made us in His image and He is a God of skill and expertise. Psalm 19:1 says, ‘The heavens declare the glory of God and the firmament showeth his handiwork.’ The Heaven is hanging without a pillar and it does not fall. According to scientists, if the sun was a little bit closer to the earth, everything would be burnt to ashes. And if the sun is one inch further away from the earth, everything would freeze to death. Scientists depend so much on the precision of creation that they can fire a rocket at a calculated angle and expect it to land on the moon without missing because we serve a God who is very skilful. God designed you in such a way that nobody looks exactly or completely like you in this world! Therefore, you cannot serve such a God and be a mediocre personality! Beloved, if the God we just described is your God, then you are duty-bound to be outstanding in your field.

ASSIGNMENT (S):
1. Prayerfully look for that thing that you are very good at and develop your skills.
2. Even if you are on the wrong track of destiny, it is never too late to make a u-turn

PRAYER: Lord, help me to discover the skills You have deposited in me, in Jesus’ Name.

QUOTE: It is better to be known for doing one thing well than be unknown because of doing everything wrong. Culled from 365 WISDOM CAPSULES by Dr Paul Enenche.
