And Jacob was left alone; and there wrestled a man
with him until the breaking of the day. And when he saw that he prevailed not
against him, he touched the hollow of his thigh; and the hollow of Jacob's
thigh was out of joint, as he wrestled with him. Genesis

THOUGHT
FOR THE DAY: Experience the touch of God by coming into
proximity with Him...
God’s touch is crucial for improving the value of a man’s life. When God
touches you, even the devil must realise that something has happened positively
in your life.
What then does it take to experience the touch of God?
1. You
experience the touch of God by coming into proximity with Him. Jacob
was not touched from a distance; he wrestled hand in hand with an Angel. Your
closeness with God facilitates His touch on your life. The closer you get to
God, the more guaranteed His touch on your life is. Men and women who are far
from God have no time to pray; they do not have any intimacy with Him,
therefore, they are never candidates for His touch.
2. By desperately desiring an encounter with God. This is when you are desperate and tired of life as usual. It means to come to a point in your life where you are tired of business as usual. When you come to that point, you must encounter God.
3. The surrender of self-effort and abilities. What that means is that you come to the end of yourself as far as personal effort is concerned. Jacob literarily came to that point. He had been running for twenty-one (21) years until he got tired, and probably could run no further, hence his encounter with God.
4. By a deliberate decongestion of your life. Decongest yourself of unnecessary activities and associations. The Bible says in our anchor text, ‘And Jacob was left alone’. Until he was left alone with God, he could not have an encounter. The lives of many people are too crowded with activities. When you decongest your life, you will become a candidate for the touch of God, in Jesus’ Name.
