The voice of God is the transmitter of the energy, power and fire of God (Psalm 29:3-4). That is to say the energy of God is contained in the Voice of God. The Voice of God is full of Power. The Voice of God literarily energised creation. That is why you can’t be powerless when you are connected to God. You can’t be cachectic and moribund when you are connected to the Voice of God. To be out of touch with His Voice therefore is to be out of touch with spiritual energy.

However, it is very important to note that the operation of spiritual gifts is not the ultimate confirmation of spiritual approval. This is because it is possible for a man to see healings, miracles, signs and wonders and even prophesy accurately, and still be out of touch with God. That is why our Lord Jesus says in the Scripture that some people would say, ‘We did mighty works in Your Name, cast out devils in Your Name and in Your Name we prophesied.’ He didn’t say, ‘They prophesied by the devil,’ (they were probably servants of the Lord). And to such people, Jesus would say, ‘Depart from me you workers of iniquity’ (Matt. 7:22-23 paraphrased).

You should endeavour to know how to hear the Voice of God because It is what will lead you to other things in life. Try to know what God wants you to do at each point in time. He could speak to you in a dream, vision, through the Bible or through messages preached in the Church. Romans 8:14 says, ‘As many as are led by the spirit of God are the sons of God,’ (paraphrased) not ‘the prophet of God’. It is the privilege of the sons of God to be led by God. May you be led by Him through His Voice today as you study His Word.

1. Endeavour to be in touch with the Voice of God via His Word.

PRAYER: Lord, I need to hear Your Voice and I am willing to obey Your directions, in Jesus’ Name.
