And the word of
the LORD came unto him, saying, Get thee hence, and turn thee eastward, and
hide thyself by the brook Cherith, that is before Jordan . And it shall be, that thou
shalt drink of the brook; and I have commanded the ravens to feed thee there. 1 Kings 17:2-4
THOUGHT
FOR THE DAY: God
will use the least likely to produce the ‘most lovely’. Continue...
God uses
the ridiculous to produce the miraculous. He will use the unbelievable to
produce the unimaginable. God will use the least likely to produce the ‘most
lovely’. It is from the raven, that the word ‘ravenous’ was derived; the raven
is a ravenous eater. The raven has a gargantuan, voluminous, titanic, colossal
appetite. It is permanently hungry, hungry to the point of eating up
its children. It is one of the forbidden birds in the dietary laws of Israel ; ‘don’t
eat the owl and the raven’ (Lev. 11:15-17). The bird that is
permanently hungry, hungry enough to eat up its children was the bird that God
used to send food to Elijah. Why? It is like sending a drunkard to
give another person alcohol. It is like telling a confirmed womaniser, ‘Please
help me to take care of my daughter.’ So God said, ‘Raven, carry the food, give
the prophet. I suspend your appetite, hunger and desire, and you will deliver
the food twice a day.’ God is about to send the raven to you. He is going to
use the raven to supply your needs. God is going to use somebody who eats up
everything all by himself, somebody who has no friend, to release that money to
you. That person in your family, establishment and community that has never
favoured anybody is about to come under pressure to release favour in your
direction. That person in the organization that does not know how to favour
anybody is about to come under Divine pressure to release your favour, in
Jesus’ Name.
