Then the LORD put forth his hand, and touched
my mouth. And the LORD said unto me, Behold, I have put my words in thy mouth. Jeremiah
1:9.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: You
can never have power with God until you have come to the end of your own
strength...
The death of self-confidence and the birth of confidence in
God is one of the outcomes of the touch of God. You can never have power with
God until you have come to the end of your own strength. When God touched the
hollow of Jacob’s thigh, the muscles He touched was the muscle connecting the
thigh; the femoral nerves, veins, arteries, which in essence is the strongest
muscle in the body. That means He touched Jacob’s most powerful place (thigh
muscles) and weakened it. The Bible says he left there with a limp (he may have
limped for the rest of his life). That is the reason why the children of Israel never
ate the meat from the hollow of a bone. When Jacob left with a limp, God seemed
to have said, ‘Now that you are weak, you have really become strong. As I have
collected your strength, you can now collect my might.’
Many of us rely on and boast about too many things. We are
over-confident about many things and God seems to be saying, ‘As long as that
strength is there, I can’t help you. Let me take your strength and give you my
might.’ Ask God to touch anything that is the source of your confidence. This
is a dangerous prayer because God might disconnect you from a godfather or from
something that might be the reason for your boasting. He may cut you off from a
source of income that constitutes your vainglory, but it is good because then
you will be exposed to inexhaustible resources, power, and the flow of God.
ASSIGNMENT (S):
1. Bury every confidence you have in your personal ability or intellect and let your confidence be in God.
1. Bury every confidence you have in your personal ability or intellect and let your confidence be in God.
PRAYER: Lord, touch, take and
remove anything that is the source of my confidence, in Jesus’ Name.
