Understanding Worship

‘Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went into his house; and his windows being open in his chamber toward Jerusalem, he kneeled upon his knees three times a day, and prayed, and gave thanks before his God, as he did aforetime.’ – Daniel 6:10. THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: When you see a man who is only focused on money, he will end up mourning.

Worship is a vital part of our Christian service. It is an avenue for the communication of our honour, deference and worth to God. It is through worship we express what God really means to us. We need to understand clearly the meaning of worship in order to offer quality and effective worship to God. What then is worship?

1. Worship is the expression of value that leads to undivided focus. Whatever you value that commands your undivided focus becomes your object of worship. If you value money or a job to a point where they command your undivided focus, then you are a worshipper of money or a job. If you love a man or a woman in your life to a point where the man or woman is commanding your undivided focus; a point where everything about your life revolves around them, then you have made such a person your object of worship.
There are people who make entertainment, sports or movies their objects of worship because they love them to a point where they command their undivided focus and attention. This is an error. Only God ought to be worshipped, and only He should command our undivided attention and focus. Beloved, anything you value to the point where it has taken your attention and focus has become your object of worship. The question is: what is your object of worship?
2. Worship of God means reverence or value for God resulting in undivided attention to God. We live in a generation where many people don't respect God. For instance, when the phone rings while some people are praying, that ends the prayer. There are people who come to church without reverence for God. But this is not the case with true worshippers of God; every genuine worshipper of God will reverence and value God with an undivided attention and focus. Beloved, this is worship.
Why then do you need to worship God with an undivided focus?
It is because your future is determined by your focus. That is to say, anything that is your focus determines your future. When you see a man who is only focused on money, he will end up mourning. But when you see a man who has Jehovah God as his prime focus in life, his future is guaranteed. As from today, I prophesy a change of focus on your life from vanity to the Almighty God in the Name of Jesus.
Remember this: When you see a man who is only focused on money, he will end up mourning
ASSIGNMENT(S): 1. Make up your mind to praise God at all times regardless of any picture the devil is showing you. 2. Engage in midnight praise and worship
PRAYER: O LORD, change my focus from vanity to You alone in the Name of Jesus. Let my attention be on You like Daniel and Joseph in the Bible in Jesus’ Name.
