The Battle Of Fulfilling Destiny

And Jabez was more honourable than his brethren: and his mother called his name Jabez, saying,Because I bare him with sorrow. And Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, Oh that thou wouldest bless me indeed, and enlarge my coast, and that thine hand might be with me, and that thou wouldest keep me from evil, that it may not grieve me! And God granted him that which he requested. – 1 Chronicles 4:9-10.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: there is no demonic hostility or adversity strong enough to prevail against Divine destiny.

Destiny is the inner purpose of a life that can be discovered and realized. It is one’s preordained future.
From the first definition above, we see that destiny can be discovered and realized. However, in between its discovery and realization lies a battle – enemy hostilities.
Such was the experience of Jabez in our anchor Scripture of today. The Scripture reveals that he was born in sorrow, hence the name, Jabez, meaning: to grieve or to be sorrowful. He probably had painful experiences growing up. It seemed his sorrowful name had begun to attract a sorrowful destiny for him, so he went to God in desperate prayer for a change of life. God answered his prayer; changed his life, made him successful in his undertakings and he became an honourable man. He built a city called Jabez, inhabited by clans of scribes. (1 Chronicles 2:55).
The lesson to learn from here is that great destinies are initially victims of great hostilities. Anywhere a destiny is great; that destiny will be a victim of great hostility initially. Imagine Jabez, someone who was designed by God to be such an honourable man being initially confronted with troubles and sorrow.
Beloved, Jabez was not alone in this initial confrontation of great destinies by hostile forces. Joseph also went through similar experiences if not worse. He was supposed to be a captain, but was first made a captive by the devil. Abraham was meant to be the father of nations, but was initially rendered a father of nothing. Moses was meant to be a deliverer, but was first made a wanderer. David was meant to be a celebrity yet the devil made him a nonentity in his family to the point of not being considered befitting for kingly anointing by his father when Prophet Samuel came to anoint a King for the people of Israel among his father’s children. He must have been considered a nonentity that should not be called for royalty, yet till date, David is still being celebrated.
So, don’t be too surprised that the devil has confronted you all these years spiritually, maritally, financially or in the work of your hands. He confronted others like Abraham, Joseph, Job, Daniel, and Esther, before you, and they conquered him. Therefore, your case will not be an exception. You will conquer every enemy confrontation against your destiny in Jesus’ Name.
Remember, the nation of Israel has also been under constant confrontation and yet their enemies could not prevail against them. The fact is, there is no demonic hostility or adversity strong enough to prevail against Divine destiny. Proverbs 19:21 says, ‘There are many devices in a man's heart; nevertheless the counsel of the Lord, that shall stand.’Beloved, the counsel of the Lord shall stand concerning your destiny in Jesus’ Name.

ASSIGNMENT (S):
1. Believe in your heart that you have conquered every confrontation of the enemy.
2. Believe in your God-ordained destiny and work towards it.
