Standing Out In Your Generation: The Secrets

Then the presidents and princes sought to find occasion against Daniel concerning the kingdom; but they could find none occasion nor fault; forasmuch as he was faithful, neither was there any error or fault found in him. – Daniel 6:4. THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: God identifies with those who represent Him well but goes far from those who misrepresent Him.

Yesterday, we saw some secrets of high fliers – secrets that took Daniel to the top. Today, we are looking at what it takes to stand out in our generation. To stand out is to be prominent. Daniel was no doubt, a prominent man in his generation. He remains a good example of men who stood out in their generation in the Scripture. What then are the things that made Daniel stand out in his generation?

1. Unimpeachable character
One prominent character that made Daniel stand out was unimpeachable integrity or blamelessness. The anchor Scripture almost portrays Daniel as an angel of a sort; there was no fault, error or blame in him (Daniel 6:4). Those who hated him desperately wanted to find a fault or error in him, but couldn’t. In essence, his general conduct could not be faulted. As a result of this, his enemies had a great deal of difficulty in their plot to bring him down; they couldn’t find any fault in him, except to make it unlawful for him to pray.
Beloved, when you come to such a point like Daniel, when you resolve not to be a reproach to the Name of the Lord, then you are set to be elevated by God. This is because God identifies with those who represent Him well, but goes far from those who misrepresent Him.
2. Passion for excellence
Another trait that made Daniel stand out in his generation was his passion for excellence or zero tolerance for mediocrity. Daniel was passionate for excellence. If he had to do anything, he must to do it well, and if he wouldn’t do it well, he won’t do it at all. Daniel 6:3 says, ‘an excellent spirit was found in him.’ and that excellent spirit elevated him to prominence.
However, mediocrity buries people in obscurity. Whoever does things anyhow can’t go anywhere in life. But a person who pays attention to details will end up with distinction on earth. God will elevate him because of his passion for excellence. May your excellence take you to the top in Jesus’ Name.
