In hope of
eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began; But
hath in due times manifested his word through preaching, which is committed
unto me according to the commandment of God our Saviour (Titus 1:2-3).
The Bible
says, “...all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the
glory of God by us” (2 Corinthians 1:20). The eternal life that He promised
before the world began was fulfilled when Christ came: “For the life was
manifested, and we have seen it, and bear witness, and shew unto you that
eternal life, which was with the Father, and was manifested unto us” (1 John
1:2).
Jesus came
to do much more than die for our sins; His death was a means to an end: to give
us eternal life—the God-life. We’ve become partakers of the divine
nature—associates of the God-kind (2 Peter 1:4). In 1 John 5:13, the Apostle
John writes, “These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of
the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life...” Eternal life
isn’t something you’ll have in the sweet by-and-by; it’s a promise fulfilled.
It’s the possession of the one who believes in Jesus Christ, being a gift from
God: “...but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord”
(Romans 6:23).
Eternal
life has come! Once, it was a promise, a hope afar off, but Christ has died;
Christ is risen, and we were raised together with Him to a newness of life.
He’s brought life and immortality to light through the Gospel (2 Timothy 1:10).
This is what excites us to preach the Gospel, and tell men and women about
Jesus. He came, not just to save humanity from sin, but also to give us eternal
life—the God-life. True Christianity is the pulsating life of Christ in a human
person; it’s the revelation of eternal life.
PRAYER: Dear
Father, I thank you for the privilege granted me to make the Gospel known to
those in my world and the regions beyond! I declare that as many hear the
Gospel today, their hearts will be open to receive, and their minds able to
understand, accept and live by your message of life, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
