...The tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold, how
great a matter a little fire kindleth! And the tongue is a fire, a world of
iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body,
and setteth on fire the course of nature... (James 3:5-6).
If you’re faced with a challenge that seems insurmountable, the emphatic
statement of Jesus in Mark 11:23 is the solution you need. It says,
“...whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast
into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those
things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.”
During His earthly ministry, the Lord Jesus proved this; He displayed absolute
mastery over the circumstances of life, including the forces of nature. He made
us realize that we could talk to anything, influence anything, and effect
changes with our words.
Jesus wasn’t talking figuratively when He said, “...whosoever shall say
unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall
not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith
shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.” He was showing us the
efficacy of our words. We rule by words, as our words rule us. Your words
determine the quality of your life.
It doesn’t matter what situation or circumstances in which you’ve found
yourself; you can effect changes with your words! Recall how the tongue is
described in our opening text; it’s called a fire. That means with your words
you can burn up everything in your life and in your path that is inconsistent
with the perfect will of God.
Your words rule your life; never forget it. Proverbs 18:20 says, “A man’s
belly shall be satisfied with the fruit of his mouth; and with the increase of
his lips shall he be filled.” It’s your responsibility to keep yourself in the
triumphant life by speaking creative words of faith.
CONFESSION: The Word of faith is in my heart and in my mouth today; and
as I speak it forth, mountains are moved, hills are levelled, and the crooked
paths are made straight before me. Nothing is impossible to me because the
greater One lives in me. By His power working in, and through me. I create my
victorious and prosperous life, from glory to glory, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
FURTHER STUDY: Matthew 12:35-37 A good man out of the good treasure of the
heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure
bringeth forth evil things. 36 But I say unto you, That every idle word that
men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment. 37 For
by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.
