God’s Covenant Comes With Demands

‘ … If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the LORD thy God, and wilt do that which is right in his sight, and wilt give ear to his commandments, and keep all his statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I am the LORD that healeth thee. Exodus 15:26.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: One of our greatest responsibilities as children of God is to know the demands of the covenant.

A covenant is a solemn agreement that is binding on all parties involved. From our anchor Scripture, we see that a covenant is a solemn agreement between God and His people where God undertakes to guarantee their wellbeing and welfare if they should serve Him and keep His commandments. God relates with humanity on the basis of covenant. This is why covenant is the highest level of relationship between two people. It connotes mutual commitment by the parties involved in it. A man relates with his wife on the basis of covenant. The employee also relates with the employer on a covenant basis; he does what he is supposed to do and the employer does what he is meant to do.
However, when it comes to the relationship between God and His children, God always knows and plays His part of the covenant, but it seems people don’t know or are not willing to play their own part. But the fact is that covenant is like a game of draught or chess that people play; you don’t expect your opponent to make any move until you move, and once you move, you don’t need to beg them to move. That is how the covenant operates; it requires commitments from both parties. Those commitments are the demands of the covenant. Man does his part and God does His part. Therefore, one of our greatest responsibilities as children of God is to know the demands of the covenant. For instance, you could ask, ‘What does God want me to do in order for him to keep sickness away from me and make me live in divine health?’ Our anchor Scripture, Exodus 15:26 above, answers this question. Beloved, it is the revelation of your obligation combined with application that results in irresistible faith. That is to say, knowing what you are supposed to do and deciding to do it, gives birth to rugged faith. For example, from the day I learnt that I must release 10% of my income as a heaven-opening key called tithe and decided to plant my seeds in the covenant, I never had to beg or pray for money. This is because the devil that can stop my money does not exist. Beloved, this also applies to you – your health, your marriage, your finances, etc, are all guaranteed by God through the covenant if you will appreciate and fulfill every applicable demand.

ASSIGNMENT (S):
1. Study the Scriptures to find out what you need to do to have divine health. 2. Go ahead and do them.
PRAYER: Lord, give me the grace to do what I need to do so You can do what You need to do in my life, in Jesus’ Name.
