Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our
sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But he
was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the
chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. Isaiah
53:4-5.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Whatever affliction that may be affecting your
life now is not your own...
God sent His son, Jesus Christ as a ransom to rescue man from the
consequences of sin. Some of the consequences of sin are sicknesses, curses,
poverty, etc. When Adam sinned, the whole of mankind (including succeeding
generations) was implicated, and in the court of the universe, it was like a
ransom had to be paid in the form of a person. It was just like in the case of
kidnapping where ransom must be paid before a kidnapped person can be released.
Diseases like cancer, HIV, tuberculosis, Ebola virus, systemic lupus
erythematosus, disseminated lupus erythematosus, disseminated intravascular
coagulopathy etc. that afflict some people and hold them captive are some of
the consequences of sin. But God says, ‘Okay, I donate a ransom (Jesus), take
Him, hold Him and set man free.’ That is why the Bible says in Matthew
8:17 ‘…Himself took our infirmities, and bare our sicknesses.' That is to say that every stripe of the whip He received transmitted at
least a group of afflictions into His body. Theologians say that by the time
they finished beating Him (Jesus), His back was so lacerated that the scapular
and bones of the back were all showing. This means that by the time they were
through with Him, all the sicknesses and diseases that should have afflicted
you were transferred on Him. Thus Jesus Christ took that hypertension, HIV,
migraine headache, diabetes, wretchedness etc., that you were meant to suffer,
from you at the Cross of Calvary.
In law, there is a law called the law of double jeopardy which states
that a person cannot be punished twice for one offence. Therefore, if He (Jesus
Christ) had been punished, and carried all the afflictions on your behalf, you
can’t carry them again. You are not permitted to carry Ebola virus! You are not
permitted to be infected by HIV, hepatitis, cancer, etc. Whatever affliction
that may be affecting your life now is not your own. It belongs to the bastard
devil, so, return it back to sender.
ASSIGNMENT(S):

PRAYER: Jesus took my pains, afflictions and diseases, whether past,
present and future. Therefore, I reject every pain, affliction or disease. I
send them back to hell, in the Name of Jesus!
