Conditions For The Blessings

SCRIPTURE: Blessed are the undefiled in the way, who walk in the law of the Lord. Blessed are they that keep his testimonies, and that seek him with the whole heart. They also do no iniquity: they walk in his ways. Thou hast commanded us to keep thy precepts diligently. Psalms 119:1–4

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: The Word of God must guide our steps and not the opinions of people, feelings of the flesh or the ‘acceptable’ standards of society...
God is eternally committed to the blessing of mankind generally, but He is unusually committed to the blessing of the righteous (Psalms 5:12). From our anchor text, Psalms 119:1–4 gives us the conditions for the blessing of the righteous. What then are those conditions?

1. To be blessed, defilement must be avoided. God says, ‘Blessed are the undefiled.’ Therefore, whatever defiles destroys the blessing. So, in order to be blessed by God, defilement must be avoided.

2. To be blessed, you must obey the laws of the Lord. The Bible says, ‘Blessed are the undefiled in the way, who walk in the law of the Lord.’ The Word of God must guide our steps not the opinions of people, feelings of the flesh or the ‘acceptable’ standards of society.

3. To be blessed, you must keep His testimonies. Do not take the acts of God in your life for granted otherwise the blessing will stop flowing. When God blesses you and you refuse to testify or remember, after a while, the flow of the blessing would stop.

4. To be blessed, you must seek Him with all your heart. The Bible says, ‘…who seek him with the whole heart,’ not with ‘an undivided heart’. The blessing does not belong to those with one leg in Church and the other leg in the world. God is interested in blessing those who are interested in seeking Him with their whole heart (whole-heartedly).

5. To be blessed, you must avoid iniquity. The Bible says, ‘…who do no iniquity; they walk in his ways.’ The blessed are those who do not practice iniquity. However, if they were ever caught in iniquity, they were probably trapped into it or caught in a snare, because they do not practice iniquity. A person, who is habitually iniquitous, can’t be blessed. So, God is committed to the blessing of the righteous.

ASSIGNMENT (S):
1. Allow God to guide your steps, not the opinions of people, feelings of the flesh or the ‘acceptable’ standards of society.
2. Do not take the acts of God in your life for granted. Always thank Him for what He has done.
