‘Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be
a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our Passover is sacrificed
for us:’ 1 Corinthians 5:7
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: The crucifixion is
still speaking and very potent. Continue...
The Passover lamb of Exodus was a shadow of the
Christ that was to come. Jesus Christ is the New Testament Passover Lamb. In
Exodus, the head of the household presented a lamb. The Head of the human
household, God the Father, presented God the Son, as the Lamb for the New
Testament Passover.
What you need to know is that Jesus is the Passover
Lamb you saw in the book of Exodus. And as such, everything the Passover Lamb
did in Exodus is what the death and Blood of Jesus is to do in your life in the
New Testament. If the blood of an animal can prevent the destroyer from killing
the people, how much more the Blood of the Son of God. If the blood of a baby
goat can change the destiny of a nation, how much more the Blood of the Lamb of
God that taketh away the sins of the world.
Originally, I used to read 1 Corinthians 5:7 as
‘Christ our Passover was crucified,’ but I realised that it says, ‘Christ our
Passover is crucified.’ Then I discovered that the sacrifice of Christ is never
a past tense. The implication of the sacrifice that Jesus made more than 2000
years ago is still as fresh today as it was then. The crucifixion is still
speaking and very potent (Heb. 12:24). The Blood has not lost Its Voice.
It worked yesterday, It is working today, and It will work tomorrow. That is
why the Bible says, ‘Jesus Christ the same, yesterday, today and forever more’ (Heb.
13:8). If you can understand not just the finished work of Calvary ,
but the present continuous work of Jesus Christ on your behalf, then every
devil becomes a joker.
Remember this: the crucifixion is still speaking and
very potent.
ASSIGNMENT (S)
- Make demands on the power of the Cross continually for consistent
victory.
PRAYER: By the Blood of the Passover, every
enemy of my life and soul, every enemy of God against my destiny is coming
under judgement right now, in Jesus’ Name.
QUOTE: The finished work of Christ is still
speaking just like the day He was crucified. Culled from REASON FOR LIVING by
Dr Paul Enenche.
