And
Pharaoh said unto Joseph, Forasmuch as God hath shewed thee all this, there is
none so discreet and wise as thou art: Thou shalt be over my house, and
according unto thy word shall all my people be ruled: only in the throne will I
be greater than thou. Gen. 41:39-40
THOUGHT
FOR THE DAY: God
places us in authority in order to give us audience. Continue...
God places
His people in authority in order to give them a voice and an audience. He wants
His people to be a voice in their generation and a voice amidst men. One reason
why authority gives voice and influence is that it breaks down prejudice,
racism, sexism and favouritism. There are many people who believe that they
have something to say but nobody is interested in listening to them because
they have nothing to show.
When you are
an authority in your God-ordained field, you become a voice to your generation.
Authority gives people favour and brings opportunity. There is a Nigerian
proverb that says ‘Success has many friends or many fathers but failure is an
orphan’. The meaning is, people will like to identify with those that are
excellent, successful and outstanding. This means that if you are a failure,
your life will be grounded. As Joseph was an authority in dream interpretation,
that authority gave him favour with Pharaoh at the palace. Disfavour can come
where mediocrity rules. Where a man lives a life of mediocrity, he cannot
escape disfavour. When people live average lives, are not excellent in anyway
or outstanding in their field or realms, disfavour cannot be avoided. Do
everything possible to live in authority.
Remember
this: God places us in authority in order to give us audience.
ASSIGNMENT
(S):
- Make an effort to move from mediocrity to excellence.
PRAYER: Lord, help me to begin to manifest
authority and excellence, in Jesus’ Name.
QUOTE: If you need authority, you
must release audacity, if not, your ‘gentility’ will invite infirmity. Culled
