The Right Environment For Faith

Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God. Those by the way side are they that hear; then cometh the devil, and taketh away the word out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved. Luke 8:11-12

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Every seed requires the right environment for growth.

In Matthew 17:20, the Bible says, ‘If ye have faith as (little as) a grain of mustard seed…’ in this Scripture, faith is likened to a living seed and every seed is expected to grow in the right environment. Faith therefore is a living seed and a living force that grows. Faith has life and that life has the ability to grow. A little born baby requires the right environment to grow. The seed (foetus) in the womb of a woman also requires the right environment to grow. In medical science, there is a condition in the womb referred to as hostile cervical mucus. This is where the womb of the woman is hostile to the growth of the child thereby making pregnancy difficult if not impossible. Likewise, every seed requires the right environment for growth; it requires the environment of the right soil, light, moisture, and temperature. If the environment is too cold, the seed will not grow, and if it is too hot, the seed will be cooked.

That is to say, if a good seed is planted in the wrong soil environment, it will die. So it doesn’t matter how good the seed is (including the seed of faith), if the environment is not good, it will die. And the fact that faith grows makes it possible for there to be little faith and great faith, weak faith and strong faith. Both the size and the strength of faith are products of its growth. And the soil of faith therefore is the heart of man. The heart of a person is the ground (environment) where faith grows.

Mark 11:23 says, ‘For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.’ Your faith shall not die, in Jesus’ Name!
