Understanding The Reason For Your Creation

This people have I formed for myself; they shall shew forth my praise. –Isaiah 43:21. THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: God’s purpose for creating you is to show forth His praise.

Understanding the reason for your creation and existence is key to maintaining effective relationship with God. Dedication begins with an understanding of the purpose for existence. There is, therefore, a need to define why we are alive. Why was man created in the first place?

1. Man was created to share the character and likeness of God and to be an extension of God’s Authority over the earth. Genesis 1:26 says that God’s purpose for creating you is to make you in His image and after His likeness. He created you to look like Him. You exist to have dominion and authority over the earth. As God rules in heaven, you are expected to function as an extension of God’s authority over the earth.

2. Man was created to give God pleasure through worship: Man was created to have Communion with God through worship. From our anchor scripture above, we understand that God created us to show forth His praise. We are to show forth God’s glory through praise and worship.

Beloved, these are the two basic reasons why man was created. Note the following key thoughts on purpose for existence:

a) Man was never created to live for himself or to profit himself independent of God. 
b) God created all things to be under the dominion of man and created man to be under His own dominion. 
c) Man has neither origin nor destiny outside of God.

Remember this: God’s purpose for creating you is to show forth His praise.
