I will say
of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust
(Psalm 91:2).
I want you
to notice the language in our opening verse as David spoke; he said, “I will
say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress....” He was saying, “I’ll
confess that the Lord is my refuge; I’ll confess that the Lord is my fortress!”
His confession was positive and definite about who the Lord was to him. In
Psalm 23:1, he said, “The Lord is my Shepherd; I shall not want” ; what a way
to think! Can you dare to have this mindset about the Lord, and confess
accordingly? It’ll completely change everything about your life. Say of the
Lord, “He’s my refuge, and my fortress!” That means no harm or evil can befall
you; the Lord has formed a protective shield around you that’s impenetrable to
the enemy.
The Bible
says, “Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that
flieth by day” (Psalm 91:5). Verse nine of the same Chapter says, “Because thou
hast made the LORD, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation.”
This simply means, “No more fear!” Someone says, “Oh I’m afraid at night; I
don’t know why my heart always beats so fast at night; the slightest noise
terrifies me”; stop the fear! Whenever you want to go to sleep, declare, “The
Lord is my refuge and my fortress; I refuse to fear the terror by night.”
Understand
this: You’ve come out of death! So, you can’t be threatened, even by death. The
One who’s your refuge—the Lord Jesus Christ—has destroyed him that had the
power of death, that is the devil! Greater is He that’s in you than he that’s
in the world. Your life is hid with Christ, in God. It doesn’t matter what
happens around you; fear not!
Psalm 91:1
says, “He that dwelleth in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under
the shadow of the Almighty.” The preceding scripture is talking about where you
are in the Spirit. You dwell under the cover, the protection, of the Almighty.
This is why you can always be calm, and at peace, irrespective of the terror in
the world today. The Most High is your refuge and fortress!
CONFESSION:
The Lord is my refuge and my fortress, He’s my habitation; in Him I live, and
move, and have my being! He’s my rock, my life, and my righteousness; and by
Him I reign and prevail over adversities and win every day in life. He’s my
helper, the One who upholds me with His righteous right hand; the stronghold of
my life. Blessed be His Name forever!
