Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke,
exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine (2 Timothy 4:2).
The verse above deals with our persistence in preaching the Gospel. We
have to do it when it’s convenient and when it’s not convenient! We have to
herald and preach the Word! Keep your sense of urgency; be prepared and ready
at all times. This is important, because we’re soldiers in God’s army, kitted
and ready always for the task at hand.
John 15:18-19 says, “...If ye were of the world, the world would love his
own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the
world, therefore the world hateth you.” There’ll always be persecution;
there’ll be those who will despise you, because of your love and commitment to
Jesus Christ. There’ll be difficult times; but in the midst of all that, you’ll
always win! Always remember that. So, don’t give up when things look difficult!
When you realize that the message of salvation committed to us to preach
is man’s only hope for salvation, you’ll never be discouraged and distracted by
mundane things. Think like Paul who said, “...for necessity is laid upon me;
yea, woe is unto me, if I preach not the gospel” (1 Corinthians 9:16). Be
challenged like Esther who, not minding what could befall her, took a stand for
righteousness, and asserted, “...if I perish, I perish” (Esther 4:16).
Be courageous for the Gospel. There’re risks to take; there’re things we
must do to ensure the spread of the Gospel around the world. Therefore, be
persistent, in season, and out of season.
PRAYER: Dear Father, I live a life that’s meaningful and dedicated to
impacting others with the power of your righteousness, through the Gospel of
your grace. Irrespective of daunting challenges, persecutions, hardships and
troubles, I remain steadfast, courageous, and bold in my commitment to the
Gospel, and its spread around the world, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
FURTHER STUDY: Matthew 28:19-20 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations,
baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy
Ghost: 20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you:
and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
2 Timothy 2:3 Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus
Christ.
