'Obama Wants UK In EU For Own Gain' - Public React

Recent comment made by President Obama regarding UK staying in EU, has welcomed several comments from the British public. Read some of the comments as reported by Wednesday Metro Newspaper below.
Boris Johnson has accused Barack Obama of hypocrisy over his views that Britain should remain in the European Union, arguing that the US guards its own independence with 'hysterical vigilance' (Metro, Tue). We only have  a special relationship with the US when they want something. They want us to stay in the EU so they have a 'friend' who they can get inside information from about EU dealings. And I'm talking as a dual national. - Laurie, London.

Barack Obama is coming to Britain next month to tell us to stay in the EU. Consecutive British governments may have kowtowed to the US but why should voters? - David Williams, London.

Barack Obama is right when he says Britain needs to be in the EU for our voice to be heard on the world stage. Our economy has grown from seventh biggest in the world to fifth since joining in 1973. Where would we be on our own? - JP, Surrey.

The comments coming from the US, Germany, France and others all seem to suggest it will be bad for Europe if the UK leaves. They don't consider us in the equation. We are expected to do as they say and keep paying for the privilege. - Steve, Sheffield.

If we leave the EU, we could remain in the European Economic Area, which would mean we'd be able to negotiate our own trade deals. EU postal services directives in 1997, 2002, and2008 led to the privatisation of the Royal Mail. We can't even give state aid to steel, agriculture and fisheries under EU rules. - Cheryl Dennison, via email.

Regulator Abta says travel insurance costs will go up if we leave the EU because we will lose the European Health Insurance Card (Metro, Tue). While we were on holiday in Spain, a child in our group became ill. Despite showing the hospital the EU health card, they refused to treat him until we gave them our holiday insurance details. And they charged us 175 euros. - Brexit, Glasgow.
