Chilling
new footage of a fugitive rapist has been released by police as they urged
women not to walk the streets alone until he is captured.
CCTV
footage at Manchester
Airport train station shows wanted Malcolm Millman, 58, walking along
the platform on Monday morning.
It was the
last sighting of the convicted rapist - branded danger to women and children -
who is believed to still be in the Manchester
area.
Millman was
convicted of rape in 1996 and sentenced to 12 years but has remained in a
medium security mental health unit in Milton Keynes .
But he was
able to abscond during a day trip to a monastery in Hemel Hampstead, on
Saturday October 24th, and travelled north, first to Leeds, then Manchester .
A senior
police officer has now warned women not to walk alone while Millman is at
large.
Chief
Superintendent Zoe Sheard of Greater Manchester Police urged: “In the past
Malcolm Millman has committed violent attacks on young girls and women and for
this reason we believe he may pose a serious risk to the public.
“It is
possible that he may be in Greater Manchester and I would like to assure
everybody that we are continuing to work alongside Thames Valley Police to do
everything we can to find him.
“If you see
this man, please do not approach him but contact the police immediately.”
Thames
Valley Police say Millman could be violent and has previously threatened his
victims with a weapon.
He was last
seen at Manchester Airport Railway Station on Monday at around 12.30pm. He is
not believed to have boarded a plane and he does not have a passport. CCTV
images show him near escalators and walking along a platform.
He failed
to return to Chadwick Lodge, a secure facility in Chadwick Drive , Eaglestone, Milton Keynes , whose care he was under.
Millman has
withdrawn a large cash sum from cash points during the weekend and has been
using public transport. He may also be booking into hotels or hostels.
Millman is
white, of large build, bald with thinning brown hair on the sides, and brown
eyes.
He was last
seen wearing a brown jacket, purple jumper, grey tracksuit bottoms and blue and
white trainers. He also uses a walking stick.
Millman has
medical conditions including a heart condition and diabetes so he may be
seeking medication.
Det Supt
Chris Ward from Major Crime, at Thames Valley Police, said: “Millman was
convicted of rape in 1996 and we believe he poses a potential risk,
specifically to woman and girls.
“I want to
urge everybody to remain vigilant. If you see this man, please do not approach
him but contact the police immediately
“If any
member of the public sees Millman, do not approach him, but call Thames Valley
Police on 101 or 999.
Or if you
have any information, no matter how small the detail about Millman’s
whereabouts then please call police via 101.”
Millman is
also known by the following names: Richard Simon Barber, Michael Geoffrey
Newman, and Raymond Pilkington and has links to Kent ,
Warwickshire, London , Cleveland
and North Wales .
