The 31-year-old striker, who
had been linked with a move to China, said he hoped to "play a full
part" in the rest of the season.United boss Jose Mourinho had refused to rule out the prospect of Rooney's exit this month, although a deal before the Chinese transfer window closes on 28 February was always unlikely.
"It's an exciting time at the club and I want to remain a part," said Rooney.

Trump names Lt Gen HR McMaster as new National Security Adviser
US President Donald Trump has named Lt Gen HR McMaster as his national security adviser.
He will replace Lt Gen Michael Flynn who was fired after just three weeks and three days in the job.
A lieutenant general with the US Army, HR McMaster served in Iraq and Afghanistan, where he worked on a government anti-corruption drive.
Saudi-bound Clattenburg handed Premier League match

Clattenburg has been named among the match officials for this weekend's
fixtures.
Clattenburg, 41, is to become
the new head of referees in Saudi Arabia and was expected to leave immediately.However, the Premier League has confirmed he will take charge of Saturday's match between West Brom and Bournemouth at The Hawthorns.
Clattenburg, a Fifa referee since 2006, is widely considered to be one of the best officials in world football.
He took charge of the Euro 2016 final, the Champions League final and the FA Cup final last season.
