May tops first Tory vote but Fox out

Liam Fox has been eliminated from the Conservative leadership contest after the first round, with Theresa May winning most votes.
Fox was the poorest performing candidate out of five – the others are May, Michael Gove, Stephen Crabb and Andrea Leadsom.
Fox got 16 votes, Crabb received 34, Gove had 48, Leadsom 66 and May got 165.
The Conservative Party's 330 MPs had between 11am and 6pm to place their votes.
The ballot took place at the Parliament's Committee Corridor, with MP Charles Walker overseeing the vote.
Further rounds of voting will take place this Thursday and the following Tuesday until two candidates remain.
Party members will then choose from the two candidates backed by most Tory MPs.
The winner is due to be named on 9 September.
