Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers state has reportedly visited the Salvation
Ministries in Port Harcourt
to thank God for his victory at the Supreme Court.
The Supreme Court had on Wednesday, January 27, 2016, upheld the
election of Wike as the Rivers state governor.
The governor, afterwards, went on a street parade to thank teeming fans
and supporters who stood by him during the trying period, especially after he
had lost at the courts of appeal.
A statement issued by Simeon Nwakaudu, the governor’s special
assistant, reads:
Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike on Sunday
worshipped at the Salvation Ministries in Port
Harcourt , where he joined others to praise and thank
God for the judgment of the Supreme Court validating his victory.
Governor Wike was accompanied to the Church Service
by his Wife, Justice Suzette Eberechi Nyesom-Wike, the Acting National Chairman
of the PDP, Prince Uche Secondus and his wife, Rivers PDP Chieftain, Chief
Sergeant Awuse and the Rivers State Finance Commissioner, Dr Fred Kpakol.
The governor and his entourage were led in a
thanksgiving prayer and praise session by Pastor David Ibiyeomie of the
Salvation Ministries.
In his sermon, Pastor David Ibiyeomie said that
giving thanks to God for any feat attained is necessary for more blessings from
God.
He said rather than complain, people should
cultivate the attitude of thanksgiving to God.
It will be recalled that Governor Wike in his
broadcast titled, “To God be the Glory” after the Supreme Court judgement said:
“We thank the Almighty God for His Grace. For without Him, we are nothing and
we could have done or achieved nothing.”
