God
is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth
(John 4:24).
God
relates with your spirit, and not with your mind or physical body. When He
talks to you, He talks to your spirit. Your head may try to reason out His Word
to no avail, but your spirit knows exactly when God talks and what He’s saying,
because your spirit knows God. That’s where the light of God is: “The spirit of
man is the candle of the Lord, searching all the inward parts of the belly”
(Proverbs 20:27).
Sometimes,
when we say God said something to us, there’re those who get confused and say,
“Really, God talked to you? What language did He speak?” They’re ignorant of
the fact that man is a spirit and God is a spirit. When God talks to the
spirit, He speaks “spirit-language”; it’s a spirit-to-spirit communication.
Your spirit understands when God speaks. His language isn’t English, French,
Portuguese or any other earthly language, but you’ll hear Him in whatever
language you understand when He talks to you.
Remember,
language is nothing but coded sound. For example, if I say to you, “tata,”
it’ll probably mean nothing to you. But if there’s an agreement between two or
more people for it to mean “come,” they’ll respond when they hear it. God is a
Master Communicator, and with spirit-language, He can talk to anyone or
anything. The Bible says, “He telleth the number of the stars; he calleth them
all by their names” (Psalm 147:4). The next time you see a shooting or a
falling star, remember that God calls them by name and they understand Him.
If
you’ve never heard Him, it could be that you’ve not been listening from your
heart or you don’t give attention to His Word. Keep training yourself to
recognize His voice by studying His Word. God and His Word are one, and He only
speaks to you in consistency with His Word. The more you study God’s Word, the
more you familiarize yourself with His voice, and are able to respond to Him
when He speaks to you.
PRAYER:
Dear Father, I thank you for the ability to hear and recognize your voice. I
walk in the spirit, and not in the flesh. Therefore, my spirit is constantly
trained by your Word to hear and discern your voice as you lead me in perpetual
triumph, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
