Gunmen kill Pastor in Bayelsa

Unidentified gunmen have killed the Pastor of Land of Peace Ministry, Mr. Alawari Ogili, in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.
Ogili was reportedly killed at his residence along DSP Alamieyeseigha Way, Opolo, Yenagoa, the state capital.
The Nation gathered that the gunmen scaled the fence of their target at about 2:00am on Wednesday, forced their way into his bedroom and killed him.
A security source, who spoke in confidence, said the assassins shot Ogili dead and fled the house without stealing any valuable.

The source said: “It was a clear case of assassination. It was well-planned and executed unchallenged. We don’t know the offence of the pastor.
“The gunmen broke into his house, opened fire on him and ensured he was dead before they fled the place. They didn’t steal anything.”
The church where Ogili was a pastor before he was killed is located at Ebis Mechanic Road, Yenagoa.
But other sources said the gunmen after scaling the fence, switched off a generator in the compound to lure the victim outside.
Igili, who was unknown that danger was lurking around, went out to check the fault of the generator.
“When he came out to check the problem with the generator, the gunmen who were hiding in the darkness, opened fire on him and ran away,” another source said.
The state’s Police Public Relations Officer, Asinim Butswat, confirmed the incident.
He said the gunmen took nothing from the house.
He said the victim was rushed to the Federal Medical Centre, Yenagoa where doctors confirmed him dead.
He said investigations were ongoing to unmask those behind the murder.
