Marrige and Love

“For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother  and be joined to his wife and the two shall become one flesh. So then they are no longer two, but  one flesh. Therefore what God have joined together, let not man separate.” Mark 10:7-9

The statements above reveal how serious and sensitive the issue of marriage is. It does not matter what culture or belief you belong to, the issue of marriage can only be understood from the manufacturer's point of view.

We must understand that marriage was instituted by God. The character and scope of marriage does not belong to a particular tribe or people  and that is because it did not originate from them.

Marriage is not a result of productive thinking by ancient wise men or philosophers, it solely belongs to God  and it can only be understood from God’s point of view.

WHAT IS MARRIAGE? Continue after the cut...

To define marriage I will like to describe what marriage is not:
  • Marriage is not a legalization of a man and woman to have sex and relief their sexual hormonal pressure
  • Marriage is not having children for each other
  • Marriage is not two  people of  opposite sex living together  under the same roof, sleeping in the same room or the same bed

All these can  always happen without going to the altar or get entangled with so called marriage. So, what then is marriage?

Marriage is an institution established by God in order to fulfil His purpose for creating the universe. It is the joining or cleaving of man and a woman  to become one flesh. This is a mystery.

It is God’s wisdom in order to make man achieve a better result in the pursuit  of vision and fulfilment of destiny.

It also reveals the relationship of Christ with the His Church.

Marriage will be a success if you  understand the following:
  • God is the Originator of marriage. Several people get into the marriage relationship without involving God. What God joins no man is permitted to separate. The marriage that is fulfilling and lasting is that which is established by God .
  • It is a cleaving/joining.    Another point to look closely in the passage quoted above is the word, 'Joining'. This is one of the mysteries of marriage. It is a process of becoming one; in spirit, purpose and pursuit.
  • Love is the force that makes joining possible in marriage. God is the source of love. A marriage without  love  is a marriage without God.
