Usain Bolt denies describing the Commonwealth Games as 'a bit sh*t'

Usain Bolt was accused of being “hugely disrespectful to Glaswegians and also to the Scottish people” as the row over disparaging remarks he is alleged to have made regarding the Commonwealth Games threatened to cast a shadow over the event.

The world’s fastest man, who is competing in the 4 x 100m relay having decided against entering in the 100m and 200m, denied yesterday that he had said the Games were “a bit ****” and that he thought the Olympics were “better”. Continue...

“I’m waking up to this nonsense. Journalist please don’t create lies to make headlines,” Bolt tweeted yesterday morning in response to an article in The Times which alleged that he made the remarks in the athletes’ village while waiting in the rain on Tuesday for a car to pick him up.
Bolt was described as being “obviously unhappy” at the time. His agent, Ricky Simms, also denied the athlete’s comments, describing them as “utter rubbish”.
“The atmosphere in and around the stadiums has been absolutely fantastic and I have absolutely no idea where these quotes have come from,” Simms said.

After Usain went on twitter to deny making the comments, the newspaper today published the full transcript of their conversation with him, saying they stand by their story 100%.

The encounter was reportedly as follows:
Katie Gibbons (KG, Times reporter) : Hi Usain, I'm Katie Gibbons, a reporter from The Times. Nice to meet you.
Usain Bolt (UB) : Hi.
KG : How are you?
UB : (Shrugs)
KG : So are you enjoying the games? Are you having fun?
UB : No.
KG : Really, why not?
UB : I'm just not... it's a bit s * . (Shrugs, looks up to grey sky).
KG : What do you mean?
UB : I've only been here two days.
KG : Is it like the Olympics?
UB : Nah. Olympics were better.
KG : Really, how?
UB : (Shrugs).
KG : Where are you off to now?
UB : To do some business.

Usain is said to have made the comments shortly after meeting Prince William, Prince Harry and Kate Middleton. But during an interview later last night, Usain declared the Games as "awesome"
