The Integrity Of Your Word And Your Character

But above all things, my brethren, swear not, neither by heaven, neither by the earth, neither by any other oath: but let your yea be yea; and your nay, nay; lest ye fall into condemnation. – James 5:12. THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: People can be attracted to you or driven from you on the grounds of character.

Yesterday, we saw that there is a connection between character and glory and that character also determines destiny. We also said that character determines our eternal destination. That is to say, who you are in terms of character is what determines where you will end your journey in life.
It is also important to note that character determines authority, spiritually and otherwise. Your influence in the realm of the spirit is determined by who you are in terms of character.
Your character also determines the opportunities available to you in life. People can either be attracted to you or driven from you on the grounds of character.
Beloved, so far, we have seen how crucial character is to life and destiny. The question then is: ‘What are the pillars that sustain character? What are things that make character to be real and authentic?
One of such pillars is Word Integrity.
Word Integrity: Your word determines your character. The word of a man of character has integrity. For a man of character, his word is his bond. People without character may speak words that lack integrity, but not people of character.
Now, what are the dimensions of word integrity? When we say a person has word integrity, what are we talking about?
a. People of character are people who mean what they say and say what they mean. They don’t make flippant or trivial comments; they are serious with their words. When they speak, they don’t need to swear to make their word authentic. Their word is their bond.
b. People of character are not given to too much talk. They are men of few words but massive or heavy action. They are not loquacious or talkative. They think deep and talk little. And when they speak, they get you thinking.
c. People of character are not given to lies and falsehood.
d. Finally, people of character are not given to filthy or careless communication. Corrupt utterances are not part of their identity.

ASSIGNMENT(S): 1. Ask the Lord to make your character to conform to that of His Son, Jesus Christ
PRAYER: O LORD, shape my life and character to be like Jesus Christ. Help me LORD to control my tongue in order to have a solid character in Jesus’ Name.
DAILY READING: Joshua 5:1 to 7:15, Luke 15:1 to 32, Psalms 81:1 to 16, Proverbs 13:1
QUOTE: When God sees a person living a lie, and behaving a lie; when He sees hypocrisy, He hates it with passion because He is the embodiment of Truth. Culled from WHO ARE YOU? by Dr Paul Enenche.
PROPHETIC PARENTAL BLESSING FOR THE WEEK: I prophesy upon your life by the apostolic and prophetic mantle upon my life that God will open a road for you this week where there was no road before, in the Name of Jesus.
