Universities 'vigilant' over outbreak threat

Universities bosses were yesterday drawing up contingency plans over fears of an ebola outbreak brought to Britain by African students.

With hundreds of undergraduates set to arrive from nations at the heart of epidemic, British universities have been offered guidance about what to happen if they have a case on their hands.

Cardiff University's infectious disease expert Dr Andrew Freedman said: 'We have to be vigilant. There will be people who have returned from areas where the infection is rife, who may be developing fevers that may be down to others causes, but who might want to test.'
