“Those who sow in tears shall reap in joy. He who continually goes forth weeping, bearing seed for sowing, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him.” (Psalm 126:5–6)
To everyone who
is sowing, serving, and labouring for the Lord—even when it is difficult—be
encouraged. Sometimes obedience and service are carried out with tears,
sacrifice, and quiet perseverance. Yet God reminds us that tears are never
wasted in His kingdom. Every seed sown in faith will produce a harvest in God’s
appointed time.
Let us continue
like determined soldiers who remain faithful at their post, serving the One who
called them. Scripture assures us that we will receive our reward if we do not
grow weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap if we do not give
up.
This
perseverance reminds us of Job, who in the midst of deep suffering declared
that even if God allowed him to be slain, he would still trust Him. His
commitment was not built on circumstances but on the character of God.
We also
remember Joseph. For many years, the promise spoken over his life seemed
delayed, and the word of the Lord tested him. Yet when the appointed time came,
God fulfilled His purpose exactly as He had spoken (Psalm 105:19).
The Scriptures
also remind us of the heroes of faith in Hebrews 11. Through faith they
conquered kingdoms, administered justice, shut the mouths of lions, quenched
the fury of the flames, and escaped the edge of the sword. Women even received
their dead raised back to life. Yet others endured suffering, torture, and
hardship. All of them were commended for their faith, though many did not
receive the fullness of what had been promised in their lifetime. Their lives
teach us that faith is seen not only in great victories but also in steadfast
endurance.
Sometimes life
feels like the waters are roaring and foaming, and the mountains are shaking
with their surging. But even in the midst of the storm, the Word reminds us:
“There is a
river whose streams make glad the city of God, the holy place where the Most
High dwells.” (Psalm 46) God is present with His people even in the shaking. He
is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.
So be
encouraged today. The God of all seasons sees your faithfulness. He knows the
prayers, the sacrifices, and the tears that others may never see. For some, the
appointed time may be very near; for others, the waiting may continue a little
longer. But in every season, we trust our loving Father whose will and pleasure
we serve.
Our hope does
not end here. The day is coming when the Lord Himself will come, and when He
does, He will wipe away every tear from our eyes. Every sorrow, every
sacrifice, and every act of faithfulness will be redeemed in His presence.
Therefore, do not relent. Continue sowing, continue serving, and continue
trusting.
The harvest of joy is coming.
