Student’s joy as he is told he can stay in the UK

A brilliant student has won his battle to remain in Britain indefinitely and take up a place at Oxford University.
Brian White (pictured above), 21, moved to the UK aged 15 after his adoptive British father returned home from Botswana.
The straight-A student feared his immigration status could cost him a place at Oxford to study chemistry.
But more than 110,000 people signed a petition backing his case and West Midlands police commissioner David Jamieson asked the Home Office to ‘see sense’. And yesterday it confirmed his application for indefinite leave to remain had been approved.
Mr White, from Wolverhampton, said: ‘Words can’t describe how happy I am.’
