Then
spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that
followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life (John
8:12).
Light
gives colour and beauty to life, and the light under which you live will
determine your understanding, perceptions and way of life. Some people live
under the wrong light, and as a result, their lives are out of joint; they’ve
found themselves in a different environment rather than God’s environment.
Light gives ambience. It creates the atmosphere for an environment. When God
gives you His Word, through the Holy Spirit, He creates in it an environment
for you to live in. The light of His Word gives you the atmosphere in that
environment.
As
long as you live in that environment, the light that God gives you will not be
refracted; you’ll never go in the wrong direction. He leads us through His
light. There’s an ambience created by the Word of God in which God expects you
to live. It’s this same atmosphere that He sent us to create for those who live
in darkness.
The
Bible says the dark places of the earth are filled with the habitations of
cruelty (Psalm 74:20). That’s talking about spiritual darkness, where the
unsaved live. It’s filled with wickedness, and devils of darkness who oppress
their minds and make them think they’re wise, whereas they’re walking in
foolishness and in darkness. When we come in, and light up their world with the
Gospel of Jesus Christ, the right ambience is created and the darkness and
cruelty are dispelled.
Do
you see why preaching the Gospel is compulsory for every Christian? Only
through the light of the Gospel can we create the ambience of righteousness in
our environments, cities, towns, and nations. That’s God’s only saving power to
bring men out of darkness, into His marvellous light.
PRAYER:
Dear Father, I declare a mighty harvest of souls into the Kingdom today, as the
Gospel is preached all around the world. Many are turned from darkness into
light, and from the power of Satan unto God, as your children engage in
soul-winning endeavours all around the world, in the mighty Name of Jesus.
Amen.
